Case study: an aircraft instrument panel, start to finish
A full cockpit panel for a homebuilt Sequoia Falco. The aluminium panel was cut on the CNC router, the Dynon SkyView display interface board designed from scratch, then everything wired and fitted. Design, machining and electronics — all under one roof.
Case study: a finger guard for cable-pulling blocks
Crews replacing high-tension cables run them through heavy pulley blocks. If a glove or finger is caught by the rope, it gets dragged into the sheave and crushed. The client needed a guard that clips over the block, keeps hands out of the pinch point and still lets the rope run freely.
- Fit first: the inside shape is fixed to the block, so every change went on the outside.
- Tested to failure: an early print broke under rope load, so the walls were thickened and the material upgraded from PETG to nylon.
- Quick to fit: magnets hold the guard in place, with no tools needed on site.
- High visibility: yellow and black chevrons, with a laser-cut stencil made so the client can respray them.
- Built for batches: printed in nylon across two printers, in two sizes.

I’m Simon Foxlee. I set up 3D Innovations because most fabrication shops won’t take small, awkward or one-off jobs — and those are exactly the jobs people get stuck with.
I bring over 30 years of hands-on electronics experience, reverse engineering and custom component design in Fusion 360. I’m also a pilot and aircraft homebuilder, so I make parts that have to fit first time and work properly.
